RENEE ADOLPHE
Fellow, Program Development
is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has been in the mental health field for more than 10 years. She is the founder and executive director of the New Horizons Counseling and Consultation Center, located in Rockville, Maryland. Adolphe received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University (Tallahassee, FL) in 1996 and earned her Master’s degree in Psychological Services from Marymount University (Arlington, VA) in 1999. In addition, Adolphe completed post-graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University Rockville, Maryland campus.
She has a wide range of therapeutic experience specializing in children and adolescents. Her career began as a telephone counselor offering crisis intervention and as a phone friend to latch-key children. She has also worked with adolescents and children diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disability, specifically Autism and Aspergers. Adolphe started and ran a social and life skills group with her colleague Christy Gordon, LCPC for children with PDD in Rockville, MD. From July 2000 to December 2002, she operated an adolescent partial hospitalization program where she ran daily adolescent groups for children suffering from depression, bipolar, ADHD, ODD and Conduct Disorder to name a few. In addition to group therapy, she has conducted individual and family therapy. Adolphe has also facilitated a Mood Disorder group for adults and an Adolescent Runaway group.
In February 2002, Adolphe was featured in the Gazette Community News for a presentation she held on runaway teens. She currently runs adolescent groups for teens needing support for depression, school problems and family issues in Silver Spring, MD.
She co-hosts a monthly community segment with colleague Greg Fletcher on the Mo’ Betta Man show, WOL 1350 AM.
